The Steps To Becoming A CPA

By Lukas Reynolds

I live right next to a CPA. There were many times when I was growing up when the conversations with him would turn to the subject of money. He always seemed to know exactly what he was talking about and he always gave me and my brothers a lot of good financial advice on many occasions.

My older brother was so inspired by my CPA neighbor that he decided to follow in his footsteps. My brother has never been a good student so I was surprised when he actually stuck to his plan and was working towards becoming an accountant.

There is a lot of schooling that goes into being a CPA and one of the requirements is CPE, or Continuing Professional Education. CPE is offered in many different ways, in a classroom, online, or on your own time. My brother decided to take classes online.

It was easy for him to find some step-by-step instructions that took him through the whole sign up process for the online CPE courses. I've never seen him so interested in anything before, so I believe he can actually do well in this field.

There are many steps you have to take to becoming a CPA. There are many classes and courses you have to take, not to mention the test. I think that if this is something you're good at, it could be a fun career. Unfortunately I am one of those who are not cut out for this line of work.

The reason why there are so many steps to becoming a CPA is because your clients have to know they can trust you with their money. If it is lost or irresponsibly used, they will be in a lot of trouble. Succeeding as a CPA means really knowing your stuff.

Everyone has heard really bad stories that involve accountants messing up the numbers and costing their clients a lot of money. If you want to avoid troubling accusations, it's best to build a good reputation from the start.

I have had my share of accounting classes in school, and I suppose I did well enough, but I was never really into it. My mind just wanders too much, sometimes. I do my own taxes, but I couldn't be like my brother and go through the steps of becoming a CPA.
