Reasons for Subway's Huge Growth

By James Krause

While McDonald's and other burger franchises ruled the 20th century, the story of the last decade has been the growth and expansion of Subway, a sandwich chain that can't seem to stop growing. With more locations opening up by the day, Subway is quickly becoming as big as anything else out there. Why have they done so well?

First of all, the fact that Subway bills itself as a healthy alternative to traditional fast food is a huge plus. We've become a more health conscious nation, which feeds perfectly into Subway's mantra. You can eat a Subway sandwich without worrying about all of the fat and cholesterol that things like burgers and fries pack in.

It wasn't until a guy named Jared though became the face of eating fresh and healthy. Jared lost a lot of weight by exercising and eating the healthiest subs. The advertising campaign has been a major success.

People also love the affordability factor offered by Subway sandwiches. More so recently than ever before, the five dollar foot long campaign has been a huge success, boosting the company's sales and giving people a reasonably priced food option while the economy is still struggling.

There are few sandwiches of this scope that can be purchased at this price, especially when you consider the free toppings offered at Subway. Having said that, the great price point is a big plus for the Subway brand.

3. Location, location, location. The Subway Restaurants are pretty small. Therefore, they can fit basically anywhere. You will find them in gas stations, strip malls and in towns with less than a thousand people.

This saves the company a lot of money, allowing it to offer smaller locations, but at a higher volume.

Between the price, the health, and the convenience, the reasons for loving Subway are many. It should come as no surprise that this brand continues to grow in popularity.
